$37mn worth of FDI projects approved by OIETAI

(SHADA: TEHRAN) - The Organisation for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI) has approved nine new investment projects to be funded by foreign investors in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Head of OIETAI Behrouz Alishiri said here on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 182th meeting of the OIETAI's Foreign Investment Committee, Alishiri noted that the projects, with a total value of 37 million dollars, involve the production of steel frames and plain-carbon and low-alloy steel ribbed bar, oil and chemical storage tanks, solvent-based alkyd paints, automotive paint and coating, piping systems and transhipment operations, plastic bottle manufacturing, steel and cast iron recycling, improvement of greenhouse cultivation technologies, plastic ware manufacturing, and automotive and industrial paint finishing lines.

The implementation of these projects is expected to boost employment, improve the quality of domestic products, bring new technological expertise into the country, and enhance [non-oil] exports, he added.

OIETAI Foreign Investment Committee is comprised of Iranian Vice President in Strategic Affairs, Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Deputy Governor, Deputy Foreign Minister, the Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce as well as Deputy Economy Minister and OIETAI President Behrouz Alishiri.
