The Baltic Fleet Coastal Troops has started life-fire exercise (LFX) at the training grounds in Kaliningrad region.

In course of the LFX, the troops are to practise the following tasks: defense and offensive, isolation and elimination of hostile commando groups, seizure of strongholds, detection of mine and other obstacles, and how to cross them, and disengagement and retreat exploiting terrain features.

The troops are operating in conditions closely resembling combat ones. The Baltic Fleet training grounds simulate modern warfare; they are equipped with targets for all kinds of small arms and weapons mounted on vehicles.

It is planned that the motorized rifle units and Marines will use more than 20,000 pieces of small arms ammo, and some 3,000 mines and artillery projectiles.
