Minister of Finance: I am Minister of Service

Jakarta, 10/01/2016 MoF - Minister of Finance states that fiscal policy set in 2017 State Budget (APBN) is prepared in a credible, efficient, effective, and sustainable way by optimizing the government revenue, managing government expenditure productively and high quality, as well as managing the financing in prudent way.

'The more transparent, which is good, the more you are determined to be more accountable and credible,' the minister said when giving directives at National Working Meeting of Ministry of Finance in Mezzanine Hall, Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (10/01).

A country will face a dynamic economic condition during managing its State Budget as fiscal instrument. This is depicted from realization of Revised State Budget 2016 which experienced up and down of the target set.

'We cannot exactly determine a number, but estimation. We are dealing with a dynamic economy,' the Minister said.

Indonesia has a Remarkable Economic Potential

On the same occasion, the Minister also delivered strategy to boost an inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Ministry of Finance, she added, should be able to formulate growth-friendly policy by switching growth source from consumption led growth to investment led growth.

In addition, the MoF's capability in preparing an accountable and credible APBN also plays an important role. 'Our capability in designing expenditure is very important,' she said.

In doing so, the MoF conduct a more comprehensive taxation reform in terms of policy and administration.

'We want to increase tax revenue. It will be realized by reforming,' she affirmed.

Ending her directives, the Minister asked all MoF officials to understand the strategic role of each employee.

'Do not ever consider you are not important, but do not over self-important also. It's a very difficult combination. All you do is very important, but you should never feel self-important because that is where the humility and service. It may not be cool, but I am the head of (state) servant (in MoF) and I am happy with that', said the minister.

She further advised all ranks of MoF to serve the public and country with love.

'I am minister of service. I become your leader to be able to serve this country, this republic, to serve our people. We do it not because we have to, instead, because we love this country so much,' she said.(ab/rsa)
