As a requirement of the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) 2011, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council agreed and adopted a Strategic Equality Plan for the period 2012-16. The Act and PSED requires the Council to review its Strategic Equality Plan and Objectives at least every four years.
To support the review a Task and Finish Group has been established, represented by the Council's Equalities Champion, Council Officers and members of marginalised communities across Merthyr Tydfil.
The Council is now seeking views on its proposed Strategic Equality Objectives for 2016-2020, which aim to reduce inequalities and to improve the well-being of the County Borough.
