Thailand's Tourism and Sports Ministry has revised up the Kingdom's tourism revenue target to THB2.71 trillion in 2017, an 8.2% rise from the B2.5trn forecast for 2016.

Of the revised revenue target, THB1.78trn will come from foreign tourists, growing 8.5% from 2016, and THB930 billion will stem from domestic tourists, up 7.5%.

The target was raised from THB2.6trn expected earlier because the industry expects to attract more tourists from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), said Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul.

'Thailand will draw more tourists from nearby countries because it's an aviation hub in this region and there are more connections to secondary cities,' she said.
