The financial research company FactSet publishes a weekly review of quarterly reports (which is also freely available on its website). In its latest issue, we learn that 70% of the companies that have already posted their results have reported actual EPS above the mean EPS estimate, which is slightly below the five-year average of 71%. In aggregate, earnings have exceeded expectations by 3.5%, which is below the five-year average of 4.8%.
