METI Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry of : ANRE Accepted Notifications of Provisions of Wholesale and Supply Services of Renewable Energy Electricity Filed by General Electricity Transmission/Distribution Businesses

On December 27, 2016, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE) accepted Notifications of Provisions of Wholesale and Supply Services of Renewable Energy Electricity filed by ten general electricity transmission/distribution businesses, pursuant to the provisions of Article 16 (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Act on the Partial Revision of the Act on Special Measures Concerning Procurement of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources by Electricity Utilities (hereinafter referred to as the 'revised FIT Act'; Act No. 59 of 2016).

Outline of the notifications

On December 27, 2016, ten general electricity transmission/distribution businesses submitted to the minister of METI the Notifications of Provisions of Wholesale and Supply Services of Renewable Energy Electricity, pursuant to the provisions of Article 16 (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the revised FIT Act.

The provisions notified by the businesses stipulate conditions and other rules under which general electricity transmission/distribution businesses, i.e., businesses obliged to purchase renewable energy, under the FIT Act should supply renewable energy electricity that they have purchased to electricity retail businesses or specified electricity transmission/distribution businesses, after the enforcement date of the revised FIT Act (April 1, 2017).
