  • MAG outlines key HC reform points in letter to Gov. Deal

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) has submitted a letter to Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to highlight some of the key factors lawmakers should consider as they assess ways to reform the nation's health care system - keeping in mind that Congressional leaders have asked Gov. Deal and Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens for their views on the subject.

In his January 4 letter to Gov. Deal, MAG President Steven M. Walsh, M.D., stressed that, 'MAG believes that patients are best served when the determination of quality of medical care is made by physicians - not by government or other third party payers.'

Dr. Walsh also noted that, 'MAG looks forward to working with [Gov. Deal] and other stakeholders to enhance our health care system to ensure that physicians can care for their patients as they see fit in a favorable environment that ensures patients have access to quality care.'

The letter includes a bullet point summary of key and applicable MAG policies.
