So, you've announced your New Year's resolution of living a healthier life. Throughout the month of January, the Rochester Regional Health Q&A series looks at different health and fitness topics to get 2017 started off on the right foot! Today, Jamie LePore, Program Coordinator of Nutrition and Weight Management at Rochester Regional Health discusses how you can incorporate healthy eating habits into your New Year's resolution.

Q: How can I incorporate healthy eating habits into my New Year's resolution?

A: Start small. Choose a method of eating healthy that is enjoyable, sustainable, and works with your lifestyle. Instead of thinking about removing a certain food group from your diet- consider adding nutritious foods instead. For example, mixing sautéed zucchini, broccoli and mushrooms to a whole wheat pasta will increase the volume of your dish and allow you to consume less of the pasta. Try replacing soda and sugary drinks with water at one meal and then at two and three and so on. Lastly, focus on bringing one healthy food in at a time; use online websites for recipe ideas if you're not sure how to prepare the food.
