ROME, April 30 (Reuters) - Italian EU-harmonised
consumer prices (HICP) rose a preliminary 0.6% month-on-month in
April, with annual inflation slowing to 1.0% from 1.2% in March,
national statistics bureau ISTAT reported on Tuesday.
    A Reuters survey of 18 analysts had pointed to a 0.6% rise
month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 1.1%.
    Core inflation (net of fresh food and energy) was running at
2.4% year-on-year in April, in line with the month before.
    ISTAT also reported that the main domestic price index
(NIC), was up 0.2% on the month and up 0.9% annually in April,
following a 1.2% annual rate in March.
