Hong Kong's economic growth accelerated in the fourth quarter of 2023, mainly due to inbound tourism and personal consumption.

Gross domestic product expanded 4.3% in real terms in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, advance estimates from the government showed. That compared with the 4.1% growth recorded in the third quarter.

On a seasonally adjusted quarter-over-quarter basis, GDP rose 0.5% in real terms in the final quarter of last year, Wednesday's data showed. That compared with the third quarter's revised 0.3% expansion.

For 2023 as a whole, Hong Kong's GDP grew 3.2% in real terms over 2022.
