Robert Juneja and Bret Bowerman, co-founders, today announced the formation of Harbour Point Capital, a private equity firm specializing in healthcare investing. Both previously had been investment professionals with the middle market investment firm of Irving Place Capital -- Mr. Juneja as a Senior Managing Director and head of its healthcare sector, and Mr. Bowerman as a Principal in the healthcare sector.

“This is an opportune moment in healthcare and one where having our own firm with a flexible investing mandate will enable us to provide capital solutions and direction to high potential companies,” said Mr. Juneja.

Mr. Bowerman added that Harbour Point Capital, which will be located in New York City, initially plans to fund investments on a deal-by-deal basis. “The healthcare industry is undergoing rapid change and we believe that there is a solid niche for a firm led by individuals with our experience and track record,” he commented.

Both Messrs. Juneja and Bowerman will become Senior Advisors to Irving Place Capital, and will continue to serve on the boards of two of its portfolio companies, National Surgical Hospitals and Universal Hospital Services.

John Howard, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Irving Place Capital, said “Bob and Bret have been valued members of our investment team for many years, and we wish them great success in their new venture.”

Mr. Juneja has 17 years of private equity experience, having joined Irving Place Capital’s predecessor in 2000, after serving as an investment professional with Sagaponack Partners and Madison Dearborn Partners, and as an investment banker with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He also served as vice president of corporate development for Destia Communications, a private-equity backed portfolio company. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Prior to joining Irving Place Capital in 2007, Mr. Bowerman was an investment professional for GoldenTree Asset Management, DB Capital Partners and an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston. He also served as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis for private equity-backed Jenny Craig, Inc. He graduated from Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in Economics, and from the Wharton School with an MBA.
