Gov. Snyder has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 as Michigan School Choice Week, joining dozens of other governors and more than 500 city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.

Michiganders will celebrate National School Choice Week at nearly 900 independently planned events and activities including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more. More than 32,000 School Choice Week celebrations have been planned nationwide.

“Michigan students and parents deserve to have access to the best educational choices possible and that’s why I’m happy to join my fellow governors in issuing this proclamation,” Gov. Snyder said.

“We’re grateful to Gov. Snyder for issuing this proclamation,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We’re excited about all the conversations that will be had in Michigan, about educational options parents have or want to have for their children.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events, meetings, and activities across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
