First 5 San Diego has launched its newly redesigned website www.first5sandiego.org. The new design features a fresh, clean look, easier navigation and added functionality.

"We are excited about the improvements we have made to our website that will enhance the quality of life for San Diego's youngest children," said Kim Medeiros, First 5 San Diego executive director. "Sharing information online is a great way to reach a large number of parents and caregivers in our community and our new, user-friendly site does just that."

The redesign starts with the home page, bringing the community calendar, commission news, a featured program and featured events to the forefront. The navigation bar was reorganized so parents can find the information they are looking for in just one click or swipe.

New to the website is a live Facebook feed on every page, enabling parents and caregivers to easily join the First 5 social media conversation. The bi-monthly newsletter also received a makeover, allowing for better integration of videos and giving readers the ability to share individual articles through various online platforms. Now the Google translate tool allows all content to be read in Spanish.

Parents and caregivers will continue to find parenting tools such as a developmental guide, oral health tips, and a healthy start section to help parents with nutrition guidelines and child-friendly, healthy recipes.

"We encourage parents and caregivers to explore our redesigned website," said Medeiros. "Our goal is to make it the go-to resource for the healthy development of children ages zero through five in San Diego County."
