The project supported renovations for my laboratory. We added counter and storage space to increase the work area and rearranged the laboratory to improve the simple work flow. The EU also provided a voltage stabilizer for each of the laboratories to protect sensitive equipment. The new equipment and diagnostic tests supplied by the project, allow us to test patients for a variety of important infectious diseases like Dengue, Typhus and bacterial infections such as acute diarrhea and septicemia. We can also test bacteria for resistance to antibiotics, which allows doctors to prescribe the appropriate antibiotics for treatment, said Dr. Vatsana Sopraseuth, Director of Savannakhet Hospital Laboratory
