RF IDeas Inc., the leading manufacturer of in-building identification and access control readers, is announcing the addition of USB connectivity for their Ethernet 241 device. The Ethernet 241 is a USB/Serial to Ethernet two-port gateway that gives customers the ability to enable secure printing on any network printer.

Secured printing allows companies to secure confidential and proprietary information, however until recently only a small percentage of printers offered these capabilities. When paired with a pcProx® reader, the Ethernet 241 gives users the ability to add secure printing to any network printer, without the cost of additional network cabling and infrastructure modifications. Adding USB connectivity to the Ethernet 241 takes compatibility with almost any system even further.

"When we initially released the Ethernet 241 to our customers, it made secure printing accessible to virtually everyone. Almost any printer on a secure network can now take full advantage of the benefits secure printing has to offer," says RF IDeas President Rick Landuyt. "By adding USB connectivity to the device, we have made deploying and interfacing with the Ethernet 241 easier and more intuitive than before."

The RF IDeas pcProx and pcProx Plus lines of card readers currently support over 45 different types of proximity (125 kHz) and contactless (13.56 MHz) smart card credentials. Combining the power and versatility of pcProx card readers with the new Ethernet 241, expands the functionality of RF IDeas products even further for our customers.
