Building Activity Survey: October 2013

According to provisional data published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, in October 2013 the Total Building Activity (private-public), in the country as a whole -which is calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits in the country- amounted to 1,567. This figure corresponds to 279.4 thousand m2 of surface and 1,139.2 thousand m3 of volume, reflecting respectively a 4.1% increase in the number of building permits, an 1.0% increase in surface and a
5.7% increase in volume, compared to the same month of 2012 (Table 1).
Private Building Activity in the country as a whole, amounted to 1,548 building permits, corresponding to 269.1 thousand m2 of surface and 1,093.9 thousand m3 of volume. In comparison with the same month of 2012, there is a
4.1% increase in the number of building permits, a 3.6% increase in surface and an 8.7% increase in volume (Table
2).
Public Building Activity in the country as a whole in October 2013 amounted to 19 building permits, corresponding to
10.3 thousand m2 of surface and 45.3 thousand m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for 4.0% of the total building volume in October 2013.
In the last twelve months, from November 2012 until October 2013, Total Building Activity (private-public) in the country as a whole, calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 16,498. This figure corresponds to 3,091.3 thousand m2 of surface and 12,321.1 thousand m3 of volume, reflecting a 36.9% decrease in the number of building permits, a 35.0% decrease in surface and a 33.4% decrease in volume, compared with the corresponding period from November 2011 to October 2012 (Table 3).
In the same period, from November 2012 until October 2013, Private Building Activity in the country as a whole recorded a 36.9% decrease in the number of issued building permits, a 35.4 % decrease in surface and a 33.9% decrease in volume, compared with the corresponding period from November 2011 to October 2012 (Table 4). During the same period, Public Building Activity accounted for 5.1% of the total building volume.
During the period January-October 2013, Total Building Activity (private-public) in the country as a whole recorded a
31.2% decrease in the number of building permits, a 31.4% decrease in surface and a 29.3% decrease in volume, compared with the same period of the year 2012 (Table 5).
During the same period, January-October 2013, Private Building Activity in the country as a whole recorded a 31.2% decrease in the number of issued building permits, a 31.5% decrease in surface and a 29.4% decrease in volume, in comparison with the same period of January-October 2012 (Table 6).
