EDP - Energias do Brasil announces Aneel's approval on the amendment of Pecem
Thermal Power Plant implementation schedule
São Paulo, January 24th 2012 - EDP - Energias do
Brasil S.A. ("BM&FBOVESPA: ENBR3") announces that The
National Electric Energy Agency ("Aneel") approved the
amendment of Pecem Thermal Power Plant ("Energia Pecém" or
"project") implementation schedule, as well as the change of
the start date provided in the power purchase agreement in
the regulated market (CCEAR).
In the Public Meeting of Aneel's Executive Board, held on
January 24th 2012, it was unanimously approved
the postponement of up to 60 days for the start of operations
of the first plant's turbine (360 MW), and up to 150
days for the second turbine (360 MW). Both extensions begin
on January 1st 2012.
Energia Pecém, with 720 MW of installed capacity, is located
in the state of Ceara, northeastern region of Brazil and is a
50/50 partnership between EDP - Energias do Brasil S.A. and
MPX Energia S.A. The project sold 615 average MW in the A-5
auction held in 2007, thus ensuring fixed annual revenue of
R$ 543.3 million (reference date: Dec/11) for a period of 15
years that will
be adjusted according to IPCA (Amplified Consumer Prices
Index - IBGE).
