Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on December 19 that two of its products, namely, the Integral Head and the Excitation System for Nuclear Power Plants, have made the 2013 List of World-Class Products as designated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The Integral Head is made of a casting and forging material that covers the top and bottom segments of a nuclear reactor and a steam generator, the core items of equipment of a nuclear reactor.

Produced as a uni-body structure without welding, the Integral Head made by Doosan significantly reduces the maintenance and inspection period during the operation of a reactor. It currently occupies the No. 1 market share in the world.

Meanwhile, the nuclear excitation system developed by Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is a 'world first' in that it is equipped with three controllers that regulate current volume, thereby enabling the stable operation of a nuclear power plant.

As a result, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction now possesses fourteen World-Class Products, including a crank shaft, a nuclear reactor, and the seawater desalination plant that won the company its first listing back in 2001.

The World-Class Products Listing is a citation system under which the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy selects Korean products that control 5 percent or more of the global market share and rank among the top five in the world from among products whose annual sales in the global market exceed US$ 50 million.
