NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 13, 2014) - Digital First Media today announced the appointment of Steven B. Rossi as Chief Operating Officer. The appointment is effective immediately.

Mr. Rossi, who has been an Executive Vice-President of Digital First Media for the last two years, has a long and distinguished career in newspapers. His previous positions include: Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of MediaNews Group; Chief Financial Officer of Knight Ridder; President of Knight Ridder Newspaper Divisions; Senior Vice-President of Knight Ridder Newspapers and Executive Vice-President and General Manager of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.

In his role as Chief Operating Officer Mr. Rossi will be responsible for the Company's day-to-day operations including sales.

In other developments, Digital First Media Chief Financial Officer Barbara Bennett will take on the additional responsibilities of over-seeing DFM's Information Technology; Legal Services and Corporate Communications initiatives. Ms. Bennett will continue to report to Mr. Paton.
