The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, will promote Canada's economic and fiscal strengths at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, taking place January 23-27.

"Our Government's top priority continues to be creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity, with a return to balanced budgets by the end of this Parliament," said Minister Flaherty. "Our Economic Action Plan has served Canadians well, and we encourage all countries to put their finances on a sustainable long-term path, as we have done, to promote strong, balanced global growth."

Minister Flaherty will participate in sessions at the WEF's annual meeting that address the economic imperatives for 2013; economic and financial uncertainties for infrastructure and urban development; and policy actions for sustainable and inclusive growth.

In addition, the Minister will participate in bilateral meetings with financial sector and other business leaders as well as his international counterparts to discuss issues relating to G-7 and G-20 commitments.

Minister Flaherty will also join other Canadian Ministers at events promoting investment in Canada and Canadian business abroad.
