Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven (CCCB) closed the 2015 season on December 18 2015, when Saga Pearl II called with some 650 passengers. Christmas markets in Bremerhaven, Bremen and Hamburg are a particular attraction.

With this season beginning March 23, CCCB is taking the opportunity to make extensive innovations in the terminal. These mainly consist of adapting the ground floor to be able to handle more passengers simultaneously. This is being done by removing the existing three conveyor belts to free up space to store disembarkation luggage. Larger doors will be built also, according to Andrea Kamjunke-Weber CCCB.

Last year the German port welcomed about 66,000 passengers on 61 turnaround calls. For 2016 numbers are expected to increase to 95,000. TUI Cruises will call eight times this year with newbuilding Mein Schiff 5 on three calls and Mein Schiff 1 on five. Phoenix Reisen is making 37 calls this year, sending newly-chartered Deutschland as well as Artania, Albatros and Amadea. On July 31 all four ships will call.
