Construction costs in 2021 significantly above previous year

Vienna,2021-01-14 - The construction cost index (CCI 2020) for construction of residential buildings, averaged over 2021, reached 110.4 index points, according to calculations by Statistics Austria. This represents an increase of 10.4% over 2020. In comparison, the construction cost index of 2020 increased by 0.8% over 2019. For the month of December 2021, the construction cost index amounted to 113.5 points, an increase of 12.5% in annual comparison.

The index for road construction, averaged over 2021, increased to 108.0 index points (+8.0% in annual comparison), the index for bridge constructionchanged to 114.2 points (+14.2% over 2020), and the index for sanitary engineeringreached at 107.7 points (+7.7% in annual comparison).

For the month December 2021, the index for road constructionreached 112.4 index points (+12.1% in annual comparison), the index for bridge constructionincreased to 117.7 points (+16.3% compared to December 2020), and the index for sanitary engineeringstood at 110.9 points (+10.1% in annual comparison).
