Communications services companies fell as the second-quarter boom in large-cap growth stocks cooled off a little.
"Growth continues to dominate Value," said strategists at brokerage Bank of America Global Research.
"Growth and mega caps [are] melting up like the 1990s." The Los Angeles Unified School District voted to ban cellphones during the entire school day, becoming the largest school system to take such a step in an era of concern about youth cellphone use and social-media addiction.
