The City of Greensboro and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro seek public input on the direction and priorities for a successful, sustainable, affordable housing initiative. To do this, four public conversations have been scheduled:

  • January 25, 10 am to 12 noon - McGirt-Horton Branch Library, 2501 Phillips Ave.
  • January 26, 3-5 pm - Hemphill Branch Library, 2301 W. Vandalia Rd.
  • January 28, 6-8 pm - Shiloh Baptist Church, 1210 S. Eugene St.
  • February 4, 6-8 pm - St. John's United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Dr.

At each gathering, meeting hosts will ask for input on the following questions:

1. How would you describe a successful, sustainable affordable housing initiative?
2. What are the most compelling issues, barriers or concerns that must be addressed in order to create long-term solutions for affordable housing in Greensboro?
3. According to the 2014 American Community Survey, the housing affordability gap for low-income renters is more than 20,000 households in Greensboro. What will it take to meet this need?

If you're unable to attend one of the meetings but still want to share your ideas, please take this online survey.

Registration to attend one of the meetings is encouraged, but not required. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Connie Leeper by calling 336-379-9100 or e-mailing her at cleeper@cfgg.org. Questions? Call Valerie Moore at 336-373-4636 or e-mail her.

These discussions are the beginning of a larger community process to create a shared housing vision. Learn more about housing in Greensboro by reviewing this snapshot of local facts.
