H.E. Mr. Edgars Rinkēvičs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, is on a visit to India from 13-16 January 2020 to attend the 5th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. This is his third visit to India. He had visited India earlier in September 2013 and in November 2013. He is accompanied by a 3-member official delegation.

The Minister paid his respects to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat after his arrival in New Delhi.

On the 14th January 2020, Minister had a bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister, Dr.S.Jaishankar and held detailed discussions on the India-Latvia bilateral relations, relations with EU, regional and global contemporary issues of mutual interest.

India and Latvia relations have traditionally been cordial and friendly. Bilateral relations have witnessed increased momentum in the recent years, which is reflected in number of high level engagements. The Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu visited Latvia in August 2019 and Latvian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Māris Kučinskis visited India in November 2017 to participate in the 'World Food India 2017'. India-Latvia bilateral trade is showing positive trend at US$273.97 million in 2018-19.
