Simon Moore, CBI International Director, said:

'It's good news that the Government is placing a refocused UK Trade & Investment at the centre of a cross-Whitehall approach to exports - something which will make a real difference, and that we have long called for.

'This, and a single digital platform where help for exporters can be found, will help focus Government support on the key sectors and markets where UK plc. can have a real impact.

'It's important that these positive changes are clearly communicated to businesses and that front-line services aren't compromised as internal restructuring takes place. This has not always happened as Government support for exporters has evolved in recent years.

'An independent National Exports Commission, grounded in business feedback, would help drive cross-departmental collaboration even further and give firms long-term certainty over Government policy.'
