Representatives of Sinosteel company, a supplier of equipment for construction of new pellet plant, visited ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih
Kryvyi Rih, December 24, 2020. Last week, on December 15, the representatives of Sinosteel company, a partner of ArcelorMitta Kryvyi Rih in implementation of this large investment project, visited the production site, prepared for construction of a new pellet plant. Site Manager Zhu Qingnian and Civil Engineer Mo Wenbin assessed the level of readiness of the construction site, discussed the General Layout of future construction, the work schedule, the deliverables lists and supply customs related issues.

At the moment, basic engineering of construction of a modern pellet plant is being developed. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is performing this together with Sinosteel company that was selected as the supplier of main equipment in September this year. Sinosteel provides engineering services to the metallurgical plants worldwide, as well as manufacturing of equipment.

New pellet plant will be able to produce up to 5 million tons of pellets per year. They will be used as raw materials for blast furnaces, partially replacing agglomerate. This will enable to cease production of agglomerate in two working sintering shops. Thanks to the operation of new pellet plant, the decommissioning of two sinter shops and the reconstruction of sinter shop No. 2, the total volume of pollutant emissions is expected to decrease by 78 thousand tons per year, as well as decrease of the total volume of CO2 emissions by 800 thousand tons per year.

The commissioning of pellet plant and future reconstruction of blast furnace No. 9 will make it possible to achieve a significant reduction in coke consumption in sinter-blast process that will also entail a decrease in pollutant emissions. ArcelorMittal's investments in the project of construction of new pellet plant will exceed $ 250 million.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih intends to complete the renovation of sintering in 2023. This will lead to a significant reduction of the industrial load on the environment.
