Almas Jiwani, President Emeritus of UN Women Canada, and CEO of the Almas Jiwani Foundation addressed the international audience at the Seventh annual World Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality about the shared values of spirituality, self-governance, empowering women and combating poverty and action on a global scale.

"This is a spectacular confluence where all streams of thought converge irrespective of religious persuasion, inclusive of all disciplines whether belonging to science or humanities, sacred or secular, social or cultural, political or economic," stated Almas Jiwani.

Quoting former US President Kennedy, Almas Jiwani made the parallels that we all have similar values. "As an American President once said, we share the same basic common purpose: 'Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit a small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future," she said and went on to outline actions that must be taken to empower girls and women in the future to effectively combat poverty. "We must educate girls and women so that they have opportunity in the future. We must build these communities in an environmentally sustainable way, and we must empower and equip women to flourish as entrepreneurs." Said Ms Jiwani.

"Almas Jiwani's role has been vital in drawing sustainable and comprehensive solutions for peace at the event and I take this opportunity to convey my deep gratitude for her role in the pursuit of a sustainable solution for world peace. Her strong commitment to this cause is truly laudable," said Dr. H.P. Kanoria, Chairman, World Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality.

The World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality organized by ASSOCHAM and supported by Srei Foundation & Times Foundation was held with great success and acclamation for the last 7 years in New Delhi, India. This was the first of its kind in the world with conglomeration of great issues on humanity, power (inner & outer) and spirituality. The confluence was proceedings witnessed a full house of eminent members from Assocham and many distinguished people from the Government, diplomatic and corporate communities.

Ms Jiwani finished with a call to action for the distinguished audience. "We are no longer in a position to sit idly by while the disparity in this world continues to grow." she said. "The lives of the most vulnerable in the world are quite literally depending on that one word I keep using, action" she continued. Asking those in attendance to go back to their communities and act at the grassroots level, it takes work, and hope, but most of all it takes the will to act." she concluded.
