SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 26, 2016) -  Aelan Cell Technologies announced today the appointment of Michael Rosenblum, M.D., Ph.D. to its Scientific Advisory Board. A formally trained immunologist and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Rosenblum sees patients, conducts research, and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

"Dr. Rosenblum is a rising star in the fields of immunology and dermatology," said Victoria Lunyak, Ph.D., the President and CEO of Aelan. "He has been seeing patients and conducting cutting-edge research just down the road at UCSF, and we're pleased to be adding a scientist of his caliber to our team at Aelan."

"Dr. Rosenblum's experience as a researcher, clinician and professor will add another dimension to Aelan's Scientific Advisory Board, as will his expertise in the fields of dermatology and immunology," added Chester Aldridge, Chairman of Aelan's Board of Directors and CEO of U.S. Equity Holdings. "As our board continues to grow, we're excited to have Dr. Rosenblum joining our team."

In his role as a researcher, Dr. Rosenblum examines the basic immunology of the skin, and as a clinician, he treats patients with autoimmune and inflammatory skin conditions. He sees patients in UCSF's adult medical dermatology clinic and has been engaged in UCSF's adult inpatient dermatology consultation service. Dr. Rosenblum concentrates on teaching immunology, medical dermatology, and inpatient dermatology.

"I'm thrilled to join the team at Aelan," Dr. Rosenblum said. "Over the past year, Aelan has established itself as a company on the cutting edge of scientific discoveries and research and development, and I look forward to working with Aelan's Scientific Advisory Board as the company continues to grow into this sector."

Dr. Rosenblum earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees while studying at the Medical Science Training Program (MSTP) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his internship at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI, and as a dermatology resident, he trained at UCSF's prestigious Physician-Scientist training program.
