Dr. Byers is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Stanford University, where he runs the Stanford Technology Ventures Program, the Mayfield Fellows Program, and the AEA/Stanford Executive Institute.
Previously, he co-founded Slate, now part of HP/Compaq, and Symantec.
Dr. Byer has also worked at Digital Research, now part of Novell, and Accenture.
He serves on the boards of Alphablox, Reactivity, and Harvard Business School CRC, and has been honored as the "Northern California Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst & Young.
In addition, Dr. Byers serves on advisory boards or committees of the American Society for Engineering Education's Entrepreneurship Division, Harvard Business School's California Research Center, the Academy of Management's Entrepreneurship Division, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship for inner-city youth, and the Software Development Forum.
Dr. Byers holds a BS, MBA, and Ph.D.
from the Univ.
of California-Berkeley.
