Ms. Seija Lainela is Senior Economist at Bank of Finland.
Ms. Lainela joined the Bank of Finland in 1986 and has been with the Bank’s Unit for Eastern European Economies (now BOFIT) since its start in 1991.
While on leave of absence from the Bank of Finland in 1995–1998, Ms. Lainela worked as an economist at the OECD Economics Department in Central and Eastern Europe Division.
During 2001–2002, she was Editor-in-Chief of Russian Economic Trends, a series published by the Russian-European Centre for Economic Policy (RECEP) in Moscow.
In 2004–2007, she served as Economic and Financial Counsellor at the Finnish Embassy in Moscow.
Ms. Lainela took her master’s degree in economics at the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in 1983.
