Robert David I. Bigland

Robert Bigland joined Rathbones as an investment director in April 2006 following Rathbones’ acquisition of Dexia’s UK private banking business.
Robert started work in the City in 1958, after two years of national service in the army.
In 1963 he joined the stockbrokers Fielding, Newson-Smith & Co, becoming a partner in 1970.
In 1983 he left to team up with Tim Keown in running Laurentian Investment Management Ltd.
Six years later he established the firm’s independence by leading the management buy-out of Laurentian Investment Management which created Ely Fund Managers, later to become part of the Dexia Group.
