On July 1st, 2004 Mr. Hayes joined Oak Hill as a new Managing Partner.
Oak Hill is the investment management business founded by Robert M.
Bass.
The firm manages $10+ billion of capital across multiple asset classes.
Prior to Oak Hill, he was the Senior Investment Officer for the CalPERS Alternative Investment Management (AIM) Program.
CalPERS is the nation's largest pension fund, with $165+ billion in assets.
With the assistance of his team, Mr. Hayes managed a $20+ billion portfolio of private equity and hedge fund investments, the largest in the world.
In addition, he was a member of the 5-person Senior Team managing the entire CalPERS portfolio.
In 2000, Mr. Hayes was elected Chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), the global private equity association whose members control $1 trillion in global private equity investments.
Prior to joining CalPERS, he had both operating and investment experience.
He was an operating executive building AT&T Wireless Services into a $4 billion global wireless company.
Mr. Hayes was named Vice President for Marketing and New Product Development in 1994, and Corporate Director of Marketing in 1996.
On the investment front, he was a Senior Associate with the Bank of America Venture Capital Group, a $1 billion+ international venture capital and buyout fund.
He is also on the Advisory Board for Falconhead Capital.
Mr. Hayes earned a BA in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, both with honors.
