Mr. Chong has been a Partner of Sycamore Ventures since 1997.
He primarily focuses on mid to late stage investments in wireless, e-commerce, software and consumer products companies.
Mr. Chong serves on the Boards of Idini Corporation (wireless) and Acme Components Malaysia (electronics).
He was responsible for the investments in two public equity funds for Sycamore from 1997 until 2000, CG Asia Development Fund and Princeton Asia Development Fund.
Both funds invested directly into Asian publicly traded equities during the Asian Financial Crisis.
Prior to joining Sycamore, Mr. Chong directed the investments of Oncidium Technology Investments, an investment fund dedicated to equity investments of publicly-traded technology firms in the United States.
He concurrently served as the U.S.
representative for Hantech Venture Capital Corporation (HVCC), a Taiwanese-based investment corporation.
Between 1990 and 1993, he served as Managing Director of Acme Components Malaysia (ACM), a privately held electronic ferrites company with a manufacturing base in Ipoh, Malaysia.
He was Vice President of Strategic Planning for USI Far East (USIFE), a publicly listed Taiwanese petrochemical manufacturer, between 1983 and 1990 and concurrently served as Vice President of Finance for Luzon Petrochemical.
Mr. Chong received both his M.B.A.
and undergraduate degrees from Stanford University.
He has been married to Beverly F.
Hom Chong for many years and together they have raised two daughters, Alyssa and Stephanie.
They have lived in Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia and San Francisco together.
