UAM Assessoria e Gestão de Investimento Ltda. (UAM Assessoria e Gestão) is the asset management division of Itaú Unibanco Holding SA (NYSE : ITUB), a leading South American banking group created in 2008 through the merger of the Itau and Unibanco groups, two of Brazil's leading privately-owned banks. The bank is an affiliate of the financial conglomerate Investimentos Itaú SA, known as Itaúsa. The Moreira Salles family (formerly controlling Unibanco) and the Setubal-Villela family (formerly controlling Itaú) hold significant interests. The group's securities arm has offices in Brazil, New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Dubai. Based in São Paulo, UAM Assessoria e Gestão combines the asset management activities of the former Itaú Asset Management SA and Unibanco Asset Management SA, founded in 1995. They serve a widely diverse clientele including corporate and institutional clients as well as high-net worth private individuals and retail investors. Foreign investors from the US, Europe, the Middle East as well as Asia (particularly Japan and South Korea) make up a significant part of their clientele. UAM Assessoria e Gestão manages a diverse range of traditional and specialist investment products including Brazilian long-only equity and fixed income funds, as well as hedge funds and funds-of-hedge funds, and discretionary portfolios. IUAM runs an incubator FoF for emerging hedge fund managers. They offer Brazilian products as well as Luxembourg- and Cayman-domiciled funds. The firm subadvises Brazilian and Latin American portfolios for leading global asset management firms.
