Semboja is currently the Chairman of Tanzania Sisal Board and Business Times Ltd.
He previously held positions as Chairman of Akiba Commercial Bank Plc, Director of Bank of Tanzania, Director of Tanzania Revenue Authority, Director of Research on Poverty Alleviation, Director of Southern African Regional Poverty Network, Director of National Productivity Council (Tanzania), Director of Tanzania Social Action Fund, and Director of The Institute of Finance Management.
He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Dar-Es-Salaam and his graduate and doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois.
