Mr. Colin Pratt is Managing Consultant at CRU International Limited.
He is Director of CRU's Valuation Practice Area.
He has spent the past 37 years working in commodity market analysis, most of them with CRU, where he headed the aluminium business unit from 1987 to 2002.
During this period, he helped to build up CRU's aluminium research into the industry leading position it enjoys today.
He joined CRU Strategies in 2003 and now works on consulting assignments across the spectrum of metals.
Although still a specialist in aluminium from bauxite to canstock, he has also worked in the areas of industrial power markets, copper and gold, nickel, lead and zinc, magnesium, pulp and paper, non-metallurgical bauxite and alumina.
His research interests have included commodity market cyclicality, industrial power prices and contracts, alumina costs and contracts, aluminium smelting costs, vertical integration, company strategy, competitor analysis and project evaluations, public policy and taxation.
He has managed consulting assignments in all of these areas.
Prior to joining CRU he was Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning with the Government of Papua New Guinea Mines Department, where he was responsible for advising on minerals policy, including the negotiation of major mining and petroleum licence agreements.
Mr. Pratt has earned a BA (Econ) from Manchester University (1974) and a MSc (Econ) from School of Oriental and African Studies, London University (1976).
