Bill O'Connell has been a leading figure in the computer industry for over 40 years.
At PSI, he now serves as a Strategic Advisor to CEO Michael Maulick, lending his considerable insight and experience to the executive team as PSI formulates its initial sales and marketing strategy.
With a unique blend of insight and perspective into both IBM and Amdahl as well as the mainframe computing and high enterprise computing market in general, Bill is an invaluable corporate resource as PSI moves from product development to customer delivery.
Mr. O'Connell spent more than 20 years with IBM, starting in Boston in 1954 as Account Executive with responsibility for large regional accounts.
He soon was responsible for managing large systems planning for the System 360 at the time Gene Amdahl was IBM's principal architect for that system.
In 1971, he became Director of Product Planning for IBM's Future Systems, but his future soon would be elsewhere.
Mr. O'Connell joined Amdahl Corporation in 1977 as Senior Vice President, Marketing, where he assumed leadership for the company's worldwide marketing and sales organizations.
Under his leadership, Amdahl expanded operations in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Canada, growing to more than $1billion in sales.
Mr. O'Connell also served as Amdahl's Senior VP for Strategy, the executive position responsible for software development.
Mr. O'Connell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
