Mr. Garrett joinied Advantage in 1999.
Mr. Garrett had his first taste of venture investing when he invested his own capital in the purchase of a marine canvas manufacturing company in December 1995.
After the investment, Mr. Garrett stepped in to run the company.
During that time, he restructured the business as an original equipment supplier to boat builders, Mr. Garrett then built a customer base of over 100 accounts, reduced the maximum order-to-delivery cycle from 6 weeks to 2 weeks, and reduced employee turnover from 80% to less than 10% annually.
He successfully sold the company in March 1999 and the company is still thriving today under its new ownership.
Previous to this, Mr. Garrett was a business strategy consultant with Gemini Consulting, which at the time was an elite strategy consulting firm with over 1300 employees and 16 offices worldwide.
Mr. Garrett received an M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in entrepreneurial management, and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Yale University.
