Mr. Nigel Brindley joined Barclays Private Equity as a Director in August 2006 from Mowlem plc, the UK construction and support services group.
As Mowlem’s Investments Director, he managed the performance of its portfolio of PFI investments including refinancing and asset sales.
These included investments in the health, education, accommodation, social housing and light rail PFI sectors.
He built-up and led Mowlem’s investment management team to actively develop and realise the portfolio’s value.
Over a five year period, this included the £20m sale of CGL Rail (the DLR Lewisham extension concession), the £100m refinancing of Exeter Schools and the mobilisation of STEPS (the 750 site Inland Revenue and HMCE serviced property outsourcing scheme), His prior experience within the group included various acquisitions (including Mowlem’s acquisitions of Access International from BET and Pall Mall), strategic development within its SGB subsidiary (including its restructuring for flotation) and a number of major high profile fee based construction contracts (including BP Oil’s HQ and Thames House).
Nigel’s earlier career was with Arup where he was on the design team for a number of large projects including Lloyds, London.
Mr. Nigel Brindley is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers with a BSc honours degree from the University of Manchester and an MBA from Kingston Business School.
