She joined that company in 1966 after spending five years as an organic research chemist for Gulf Oil.
Ms. Cookson left to pursue her hobby-stock market investments.
She was elected President of the Economic Club of Pittsburgh in 1973--the club's first woman president in their seventy-five year history.
From 1976-1982, she served as a Director of the Board of the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce and is a past Director and Vice Chairman of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh.
She is currently a Director of Dollar Bank, a Trustee of the Eye & Ear Foundation, past Chairman of the Eye & Ear Finance Committee, and current member of the Eye & Ear Finance Committee.
She is a member of the Economic Club and the CFA Institute.
Ms. Cookson is listed in the Kingston's National Registry of Who's Who 2002 Edition which is registered at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Cookson attended Rice University and transferred to the College of Science and Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University, to pursue a dual curriculum in BioChemistry and Chemistry.
She graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude and was elected to the Senior Honorary Societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi and Mortar Board.
She has continued her education, graduating from the Institute of Investment Banking at the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania.
She is a member of the Duquesne Club.
