Profile

David Leary joined First State Investments in March 1999 and has 17 years experience in international equity markets.
He began his career in 1986 as a graduate trainee at Lombard Odier where he worked for the European equity and technology teams.
Two years later he joined Lombard Odier colleagues to start Law Dempsey and Company.
There he was first responsible for UK equities before broadening his coverage to European markets.
He continued this focus when AIG acquired Law Dempsey in 1993 and also ran the AIG European Smaller Companies Fund.
With experience in managing emerging European and international equity products, David was appointed Head of Equities in 1998 in which he instigated a switch from a country based to sector based process for AIG.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Economics and Social Studies from the University of Manchester.
