Minara Resources Pty Ltd is an Australia-based nickel producer. The Company operates the Murrin Murrin nickel and cobalt mining and refining project. The Murrin Murrin nickel cobalt operation is located between Leonora and Laverton towns in the north eastern goldfields region of Western Australia. The Murrin Murrin plant has the capacity to produce about 40,000 tons of nickel and 5,000 tons of cobalt per annum. The Company uses conventional open pit mining techniques, which are followed by ore processing comprising pressure acid leaching, mixed sulphide precipitation, cobalt refining and nickel refining. The production process also produces ammonium sulphate as a by-product. The Company is wholly owned by Glencore plc.
