Tim Oshea

Tim O'Shea joined QED as an advisor in December 2022 and became an executive in residence and senior advisor in June 2023.
He specializes in helping fintechs navigate banking and regulatory issues, especially relating to product launches and growth initiatives.
His work reduces time to revenue, enables effective compliance and risk management, and identifies strategic opportunities and risks in the regulatory environment.
A trusted advisor to leadership teams of fintechs and traditional financial institutions, Tim’s areas of core expertise include bank regulation and risk management of fintech activities, consumer compliance and enterprise risk management, corporate governance and strategic matters involving the interaction of innovation and regulation.
He works with portfolio companies in a range of capacities, including fractional compliance and risk leadership, program development and strategic project execution.r Before joining QED, Tim led legal and enterprise risk for Reserve Trust, a B2B payments company.
Previously, he worked for nearly a decade with Promontory Financial Group, where he assisted fintechs, traditional institutions and governmental and self-regulatory organizations with strategic, regulatory and risk issues.
Among other things, he has helped dozens of institutions build, strengthen and demonstrate the adequacy of their compliance and risk frameworks.
Tim has also served as chief of staff of Carver Federal Savings Bank, a community development bank, where he led strategic and business planning.
During law school, he worked for the majority staff of the U.S.
House Committee on Financial Services, helping develop the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation.
Tim received his law and graduate degrees from Duke University and his undergraduate degree from New York University.
