RAB Capital-IM uses fundamental research and makes use of hedging strategies including short selling, options and futures. They invest in small companies, both listed and private, and real estate development opportunities.

Park Place is an active, long/short European equities manager which aims to provide absolute returns, investing across market caps, with a preference for Western European mid-caps. They apply top-down macro screens to the European equity universe, evaluating price momentum, earnings revisions, CFROI and implied growth. They also apply a sector overlay, analyzing business cycles, macro catalysts and the yield curve to determine the firm's action list and then apply a bottom-up approach to pick stocks. The firm believes that qualitative factors, such as a company's decision-making and strategy implementation processes, management's strengths and weaknesses, and supplier/competitor strategies enable them to develop their insight and define a stock's true investment potential. Their partners and analysts conduct company visits to evaluate prospective investee companies. Their long/short funds aim to achieve alpha from long and short portfolio holdings focused on European equities. Their Park Place Europe fund generally gives greater weighting to large-caps and places more emphasis on diversification. They also employ lower concentrations and exposure limits and may also utilize more restrictive drawdown guidelines, such as index futures for hedging. Park Place actively monitors exposures, taking account of market volatility, market momentum, portfolio diversification and portfolio beta. In addition, every holding is subject to a size limit. The firm does not use fixed stop-loss limits but has pre-determined alarms that trigger a mandatory review if hit. They supplement their in-house systems with their prime broker's risk analysis system and measure their long and short alpha on a live-mark-to-market basis.
