Louis Bacon studied at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, but he was graduated at Middlebury College, where he studied literature. Later he received an MBA from Columbia Business School.

He started his career as trader and broker of futures for Lehman Brothers in New York. In 1986, he founded Moore Capital Management (which is still the manager), one of the most important hedge fund with 15 billion of dollar in assets under management. Moore Capital’s headquarter is in New York, other offices are in London, Toronto and Washington DC.

Louis Bacon had a fortune estimated at $ 1.4 billion, and he was placed 736th richest person in the world, for Forbes 2011 ranking. As well he is considered one of the top 100 traders of the 20th century.
