The non-profit company is based in West Orange, NJ. It serves 41 to 42 member theatres across 15 counties, including equity producing, associate equity, and affiliate members. The alliance advances the theatre field through programs such as professional development, marketing support, capacity-building assistance, and initiatives focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key projects include the Cultural Access Network Project, which enhances accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities, and the Creating Change Network, which works toward building an equitable and anti-racist arts community. The alliance provides member services such as roundtables, trainings, resource libraries, marketing and audience research support, interest-free loans, job boards, and combined auditions. It organizes events like the annual Curtain Call Awards and the Ovation Gala to celebrate and fundraise for the professional theatre sector. The alliance also promotes accessibility through ADA planning assistance, equipment loans, training, mini-grants, and awards for innovation and excellence, and engages the community through newsletters, social media, and an online calendar of accessible events. New Jersey Theatre Alliance is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 by five professional theatres, dedicated to uniting, promoting, strengthening, and cultivating professional theatres across the region.
