Profile
John Madden co-founded Sequel Holdings and has served as its Managing Partner since its formation in 2002.
He sits on the Investment Committee of all Sequel funds and on the board of directors, or as advisor to the board, of each of Sequel’s portfolio companies.
Prior to founding Sequel in 2002, Mr. Madden worked in various capacities at J.C.
Bradford & Co., Bankers Trust Company, and Dean Foods Company (NYSE: DF) and its predecessors and affiliated companies (Kaminski Engles Capital Corporation, Reddy Ice Corporation, and Suiza Foods Corporation).
While at Dean (and its affiliates), Mr. Madden held a variety of senior management positions including Vice President and Treasurer of Suiza Foods, Chief Financial Officer of Reddy Ice, and Vice President of Corporate Development of Suiza Foods and Dean Foods.
Mr. Madden was actively involved in the growth of Dean Foods from the company’s initial dairy acquisition in Puerto Rico in 1993 through its acquisition of legacy Dean Foods Company in 2001.
He was instrumental in growing the Dean Foods portfolio from $50 million in sales at inception in 1990 to $9 billion in sales in 2002.
Mr. Madden received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Human Development from Vanderbilt University in 1988.
He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas while working at Suiza Foods.
