Ian Hagtharp

Mr. Ian Hagtharp is Senior Strategist & Alternatives Research at MLC Investments Ltd. Mr. Hagtharp joined MLC Investment Management (MLCIM) in March 1999 to assist the team expand its asset allocation and strategy design capabilities.
He now works in MLCIM’s Capital Markets Research team on a part time basis.
From 2001 until 2007 Mr. Hagtharp headed up the newly established Capital Markets Research team within MLCIM.
During this period, he worked on a diverse range of strategy assignments covering MLC’s diversified products, the investment strategy for MLC’s insurance company and some key strategy assignments emerging via MLC’s Implemented Consulting business.
He also contributed to product development initiatives and researched some prospective new and emerging asset classes for potential application to diversified products.
In 2007 he took a year’s leave of absence to travel with his family.
On his return, he worked for six months on a special research project and then for just over a year as a Senior Asset Consultant with MLC Implemented Consulting before returning to assist the Capital Markets Research team.
His career history prior to joining MLC included five years at the Frank Russell Company and five years at Towers Perrin working in actuarial and investment consulting roles.
